5 Tips for Clearing Clutter at Home
Do you have ways to address clutter in your life and how to organize it?
It seems that we all live with clutter these days that takes attention and sometimes feels overwhelming and mentally exhausting. It takes away from the enjoyment of our spaces.
Some people feel that the best way to organize is to get rid of everything and then live a totally minimalist lifestyle.. Others keep everything and just find a place to put it, but often have overflowing closets or cabinets.

I find myself somewhere in the middle. I don’t want to get rid of everything. At the same time, I don’t want to keep everything and add more storage spaces. What I like to do is get rid of unnecessary things and have everything have a place.
Here are some tips that will help you declutter and enjoy your beautiful interior spaces that you worked so hard to create:
Tip #1: Start Small
Think of decluttering like eating an elephant. You can’t do it all at once. Instead, break it down into small, manageable tasks. Spend just 15 minutes a day tackling these ‘tiny tasks’. It could be as simple as picking up a paper clip from your desk or pairing up your socks.
Tip #2: Organize Drawers and Closets
Choose the smallest, easiest drawer or closet to start with. Break it down into segments – hanging clothes, shoes, purses, belts, etc. Then, pick one segment to work on each day. Remember, it’s not about speed, it’s about consistency.
Tip #3: Keep What Brings You Joy
If something in your possession drains your energy, it’s time to let it go. Keep only the things that lift your spirits and bring you joy.
Tip #4: Use Three Boxes
When you’re cleaning and clearing, have three boxes or bags at hand. Use one for trash, one for giveaways, and one for items that need to be relocated. You can either distribute items as the box fills up or do it item by item. Find what works best for you.
Tip #5: Tackle Paper Clutter
When it comes to paper, try to touch it only once. If you get a postcard in the mail, decide right then if you’re going to attend the event. If yes, put it in your calendar and toss the card. If not, into the trash it goes.
And remember, organization doesn’t have to be expensive. You can use drawers, pull-out shelves, baskets, or storage bins to keep things tidy. So, are you ready to take the first bite of that elephant? Remember, every tiny task counts!
